together, we can drive an animal-friendly fashion future

Fashion is looking great and feeling good. Every purchase is a chance to wear your values, and to reward brands for how they care for animals. Together, let’s make animal protection a fashion priority by wearing it kind.

Animal protection is a critical component of ethical fashion. Fashion owes a huge debt to animals yet most brands don’t know about animal welfare in their supply chains, nor the suffering of billions of animals behind the production of our clothing. But this is changing.

Shoppers, designers and brands have the power to build the ethical fashion movement, ensure animal protection is a key priority.

While there are significant animal welfare issues to be addressed across the global fashion trade, right now, we want to see action on four spotlight issues. These are mulesing in the Australian wool industry, farming and trapping wild animals for fur and exotic leather, and live plucking down from ducks and geese.

What are the issues?

fur farming

95% of the world’s fur comes from caged, abused animals

The mulesing of lambs

The mutilation practice behind the woolly image

Down Feathers

The cruelty of live plucking

Fur trapping

The brutal traps killing for fashion

Exotic Skin Trade

Wildlife suffering for the lucrative skin trade

A FOUR PAWS campaign shaking up the fashion industry

Why can FOUR PAWS help animals abused for fashion?

Over 30 years ago, we were created to help animals abused on fur farms. All over the world, FOUR PAWS campaigns for a permanent ban on the keeping and killing of fur-bearing animals and an end of the usage of real fur in the fashion industry.

And it isn’t just about fur anymore.

There are billions of animals who suffer for fashion, from geese and ducks who are live plucked for down feathers, to the crocodiles who are penned together on crocodile farms, awaiting skinning to be turned into a handbag.

FOUR PAWS is encouraging Australian, US and global brands to show leadership in improving their business practices and promoting how businesses and supply chains can succeed without the use of cruel animal products.

More directly, the role that each of us play as the ones who decide whether animals' skin, fur, wool or feathers, are desirable for our wardrobes.

With this approach in mind, FOUR PAWS has launched Wear It Kind to challenge the treatment of animals, and to make animal protection an essential part of ethical fashion.

Together, we can build an animal-friendly fashion future!
