The rise of plant-based diets

We must adjust how we eat to save the planet

21.1.2022

Wow, can you believe it’s 2022 already? It feels like we have merely blinked, and the past 2 years are behind us – swathed in concern for the Covid-19 crisis, never-ending restrictions, government regulations, lockdowns, and a whole lot of Netflix. It was easy to put environmental and animal welfare concerns on the back burner while we strove to save lives in the face of a global catastrophe. This year however, we hope the worst is behind us and we can convince you to re-focus your energy on saving the lives of other animal species – namely those of the livestock industry that have faced decades of oppression, torture, and death at the hands of humans.

How can I help save the lives of animals you ask?

With our #LiveKinder campaign, we encourage you to protect animals and our planet by reducing your consumption of animal products, refining your diet by choosing products with certified high animal welfare standards or replacing them altogether for plant-based alternatives.

The 3Rs Principle

However, the most impactful option is to adopt a vegan diet or lifestyle, and what better month to give it a try than right now in Veganuary!

What is Veganuary?

Veganuary is a term coined from the UK based non-profit of the same name. The idea was launched in 2014 with an aim to encourage meat-eaters to consume only plant-based foods for the month of January – and hopefully beyond.

There’s no time like the present, so if you have been thinking of changing your diet or lifestyle why not take the plunge in 2022? Let’s shake things up! Together, we can #LiveKinder in what we eat, what we wear, and how we treat the world. Even the smallest actions can have a big impact.

But what will I eat?

Now more than ever, we have the means necessary to take on such a challenge. Over the past few years alone we have seen an insurmountable surge in the amount of readily available vegan foods and products. From soy milk to oat milk, to the relatively unknown pistachio milk, there is now enough choice on the market for even the fussiest of eaters. As plant-based alternatives continue to improve and competition surmounts, consumers are faced with countless choices that make it even easier to adopt a plant-based diet.
